Coupled playback · pitch follows speed

A different speed.
A different interval.

Convert a playback multiplier, speed change or pitch interval into the same model. Add a source duration, or find the rate that fits an entered target.

Your conversion

Positive raises coupled pitch; negative lowers it. Percent mode means change from the original, not percent of original.

Seconds (102), minutes:seconds (1:42.000), or hours:minutes:seconds. Up to 3 fractional-second digits; colon seconds and middle minutes below 60. Two fields always mean minutes:seconds.

Software bounds: 1/64×–64×. A supplied source or target must be positive and at most 604800 seconds (168 hours). Other modes allow a blank source; duration then remains unavailable. Driver decimals allow up to 12 fractional places.

Speed, interval and time

Speed percent and duration percent are different.

At 0.8×, speed changes by−20%, but fixed content takes 25% longer. A 150-second source becomes 187.5 seconds, or 3:07.500. In this coupled model its pitch shifts by about−3.863137 semitones.

The opening example raises a 102-second source by 3 equal-tempered semitones: about 1.189207×, producing 1:25.771 after clock rounding. Read the equations, fit-duration example and limits →
